Some backyards just need a complete overhaul - not a patch here and a fix there, but a full rethink of how the space works. That's exactly what this one called for. What started as a plain, empty backyard behind a nice home became a fully built-out outdoor living setup that functions just as well as any room inside the house.

The paver patio is the backbone of the whole layout. We used a large-format stamped paver in a dark charcoal tone, bordered with a contrasting soldier course to give the edges a clean, finished look. The shape flows around the deck and out toward the yard in a wide, gently curved form - nothing boxy or forced. That kind of layout takes real planning up front, and it shows in the final result.

The built-in fire pit sits right in the middle of the patio, perfectly positioned to be the center of attention when the sun goes down. Surrounding the hardscape, we installed multiple landscape beds packed with fresh plantings and topped with dark mulch. The beds wrap the base of the deck, run along the patio edge, and anchor the corners of the space. Fresh plants, clean bed lines, white lattice skirting on the deck - every detail adds up.

We also tied the whole setup together from a design standpoint. The paver walkway connects the two stair entries off the deck, so moving around the space feels natural. The gazebo structure on the deck gives a defined lounge area with real shade and shelter. Nothing here was an afterthought.

This is the kind of work we take pride in at Lunsford - where hardscaping, landscape design, and attention to the full picture come together in one cohesive build. When every piece fits together this well, the backyard stops being wasted space and starts being somewhere you actually want to spend time.
