Most yards have a path - even if it's just worn-down grass or bare dirt between the driveway and the back steps. The problem is that kind of path gets muddy, uneven, and honestly just looks unfinished. A proper paver walkway fixes all of that at once.

For this job, we went with Cambridge Onyx Natural pavers. The color is a deep charcoal with a subtle texture that gives it a natural stone look without the unpredictability of real stone. We laid them in a herringbone pattern, which locks the pavers together tight and keeps everything stable underfoot over time.

What really pulls the whole thing together is the natural river rock border running along the planting bed side of the walkway. It's a clean, organic separation between the hardscape and the mulched beds - and it adds a layer of visual interest that a standard soldier-course edger just can't match. The curve on this walkway isn't a shortcut either. A clean arc like that takes planning and precise cuts to execute without gaps or awkward angles.

Beyond the looks, there's a real practical side to a walkway like this. Solid footing matters - especially when you're heading out to the yard with kids, carrying groceries, or walking up to the house in the dark. Cambridge pavers are built to hold up through freeze-thaw cycles and heavy foot traffic without cracking or shifting the way poured concrete can.

Our hardscaping services cover everything from the initial layout and grading all the way through final installation. Getting the base prep right is what separates a walkway that lasts decades from one that settles and shifts after the first winter. We don't cut corners on that part.
