Sometimes the smallest update makes the biggest difference. A fresh layer of dark mulch around an entry bed is one of those things - it pulls everything together in a way that's hard to explain until you see it done right.

Here's what we were working with: a curved front bed anchored by a stacked stone mailbox column, a small tree, and a couple of low shrubs with landscape lighting set throughout. Good bones. It just needed some attention. We laid a rich, dark brown mulch across the entire bed, working it clean and even around each plant and right up to the concrete edges.

The stone mailbox column is a great example of how hardscaping and landscape installation work together. That stone detail already has a lot of character on its own - but when you pair it with a well-maintained bed and dark mulch, it looks intentional. Polished. The kind of front entry that makes people slow down when they drive by.

Mulch does more than look good, too. It holds moisture, keeps weeds in check, and protects root systems - especially for younger trees and shrubs that are still establishing. It's a practical service that also happens to be one of the highest-return things you can do for curb appeal.

A neat front bed signals that a home is cared for. It's one of the first things anyone sees, whether that's a neighbor, a guest, or a potential buyer down the road. Getting it right doesn't take much - just the right materials and someone who knows how to use them.
